Gabriel Cohen is the person I might have become if I had stayed in New Jersey and trained fully with Miklós. I never wanted to be James Bond. I knew my flaws since I was a young boy, which is probably why I chose psychotherapy over espionage. Gabriel lived in my head for years, the hero of stories some of which are too gruesome to publish. But he deserves to be read. He is the embodiment of paths not taken, guilt accumulated, and a very particular kind of skill.
